Considering a Masters or PhD? Postgrad LIVE Bristol is your chance to speak face-to-face with universities, ask those awkward funding questions, and discover what postgrad life is really like. There’s a full talks programme happening throughout the day too. The best part? It’s completely FREE to attend.

Postgrad LIVE has three main features:

Exhibition Hall: Chat directly with university representatives.
Talks Programme: Drop in and out of sessions on postgraduate life, applications, and more.
“Ask Us Anything” Zone: Get honest advice on funding, student life, and applications from our postgraduate experts.

The fair will be open from 12pm, but the pre-fair talk, Postgrad 101, will start at 11:15am.

Get the lowdown on Masters and PhDs plus practical advice too, because winging it is fun, but planning is better.

11:15am - 12:15pm

Postgrad 101: Who? What? Where? When? How? - The postgraduate world can be a confusing, acronym-filled place. If you don't know your MRes from your MPhil, this talk is for you. We cover the basics you'll need for your studies. We discuss application deadlines, entry dates, funding and more to give you a checklist of all the essential information you need.

12:30pm – 1:15pm

Covering the cost of your Masters - Find out the true cost of a Masters and how to pay for it. This talk walks you through what you need to budget for, what funding sources are out there and how to access them with examples from Masters students who have been in your shoes.

1:30pm – 2:30pm

Writing a research proposal masterclass - The research proposal makes or breaks your application. Learn what you should and shouldn't include and get valuable tips and advice from previous successful PhD students with real experience.
