About the University of Chester

Founded in 1839, we pre-date all but a handful of other English higher education providers. Based in the heart of a historic city, we are now a forward-thinking modern university with a focus on delivering a sustainable higher education experience that is adaptable to the world around us.

Students have access to a wealth of opportunities while being taught in subject-specific facilities by industry experts and research-active staff. We are well connected to both public and private sector business and are proud we are proud to support the development of three Research Knowledge Exchange Institutes (RKEIs).

We are committed to delivering community, fostering innovation and creativity, and providing education that enriches the lives of our graduates and staff but also contributes to positively shaping the communities and world we are part of. At Chester, we ensure our graduates are not just work ready, they’re world ready.

“It offers a great mix of subjects and looks at how organisations achieve their marketing goals, utilising digital platforms. The lecturer support is amazing and they are always there to help. I also worked as a student academic ambassador. It was all an amazing experience for me.”

Gaining a New Perspective

Coming from a Mechanical Engineering background, studying Engineering Management introduced me to a new perspective. Through modules like Strategic Project Management and Strategic Financial Accounting, I began to understand that successful engineering projects are not only built on technical expertise, but also on leadership, planning, risk management and financial decision-making. Modules like Managing People and Managing Innovation made the experience even more meaningful, teaching me the value of teamwork, communication and the importance of adapting to emerging technologies in a constantly evolving world.

Support from My Lecturers

What truly made the experience special was the support I received from my lecturers. Their guidance, patience, and encouragement helped me navigate difficult moments and stay motivated throughout the course. Knowing there was always support available made a huge difference in my confidence and academic development.

My Post-graduation Career

Since graduating from the University of Chester with a distinction, one of the things I am most proud of is securing a role as a Piping Engineer on the Shotton Mill Paper Conversion Project in Wales. The journey from university to industry felt like a natural progression of the skills and mindset I developed during my Engineering Management studies
