The School of Geography is a leading international centre of postgraduate teaching and research, ranked in the world’s top 50 according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2017. In the latest Research Excellence Framework, 75% of the school's research output was considered world-leading or internationally excellent.

We provide a supportive study environment with small-group teaching and tutorials. Postgraduate students have full access to school facilities, including computing, 3D visualisation and geoscience laboratories and a resource centre.

We have internationally recognised strengths across the discipline, with research across our UK, China and Malaysia campuses exploring cultural and historical geography, economic worlds, environment and society and geosciences.

Career opportunities are varied and 100% of geography postgraduates who were available for employment secured work or further study within six months of graduation*. Recent graduates have gone on to work in consultancy, data management and analysis, engineering, higher education, and local and central government offices. Many also go into further research.
